An article about the saintly Balumams who introduced themselves to the Dhangar community in the spiritual world.

It is not possible to say when, where, how and in what form the principle of Yahweh will be manifested. Dhangar, the youngest member of the family, who takes the goats and sheep to graze in the forest, grows up and protects the world with his ingenuity and deity. It is beyond comprehension.

On 3rd October 1892, in the remote village of 'Akkol' in Chikkodi taluka near Belgaum, the steps of the Lord descended and enriched the life of both Mayappa and Satyava. Satyava, from the village of Appachi Wadi on the present Kagal-Nipani National Highway, has been fond of Pandhari Vithuraya since childhood. The atmosphere at home was spiritual. Satyava used to fast on Ekadashi regularly and was stunned by Vitthal Bhajans. Later, Satyava got married to Mayappa. Satyava, who was introduced as a 'daughter-in-law' in the Dhangar family, soon became involved in her father-in-law's rituals and gave birth to three children, Bhairu, Balu and Bhimappa.

Thorala and Dhakla Lake were like fours, but the middle child was attracting the attention of everyone in Avatibhavati with his strange behavior. Balu, who was separated from his parents-siblings-Gangot-Savangadi and villagers, who was not in anyone's company, who loved solitude and was always engrossed in himself, had become a matter of concern for the family and the villagers as well.

Mayappa hired his son Chandulal Shetji Jain from the village to treat him like other children. The goats of Shetji's house were assigned to Balu to graze in the forest. Although Baloo was doing his job well, he often slept on a mattress spread over an acacia tree. He used to lean against the barbed wire fence of acacia and not only that, he used to sit comfortably on it and say 'this is my chair'. If someone got up from there, he would climb a nearby tree and sit on a high place and say, 'This is my peak.'

Even though he was fully aware of the divine essence in 'Baalu', it was simply impossible for anyone else to have it. Sometimes Manasvi Baloo used to behave incomprehensibly. It was a matter of ridicule and admiration for the lonely, self-indulgent villagers at the same time because of the slaps on their faces, the occasional slap in the face and the occasional smirk on the faces of the onlookers. Balu used to sleep in a corner of Chandulal Shetji's barn. Shetji used to eat in the small plate given to him and after eating, he used to clean the plate by rubbing it.

Once, Shethji's elderly mother, who had just gone into the barn, saw a bright light reflecting from a plate of sand. As she picked up the plate out of curiosity, she saw her basti (Jain temple) beyond the plate through the hole in the middle of the plate. Since then, she has often become aware of the supernatural nature of Balu, noting that it is not just a pore of Dhangara, but a part of the divinity in it, and from here, the 'true' form of Balu gradually came to the notice of the people.

Meanwhile, Mayappa and Satyava arranged Balu's wedding. Even though Balu Varkarani was playing in the family, his inner goose was saying something different because now the time was near for Balu's journey to become 'Balumama'. At the right time, Balumamams saw the footsteps of Shri Maharaj Maharaj at the same time and at the same time, Balumamama's irrational-avadhut-like behavior gained the edge of communal discipline. The Guru tradition of Balumama was as follows: After receiving the grace of Sriguru, the spiritual life of Balumam was ablaze with extraordinary speed.

From then on, for many years, this pair of Gurushisyas continued to communicate everywhere. There was a growing tendency among the Balumams to indulge in bhajans day and night, to visit various pilgrimage sites, to raise food rows by donating food, to guide the visitors on their difficulties, to spread the glory of Namjapa everywhere. Balumama used to attack the superstitions, undesirable customs and unscientific attitudes of the naive devotees. He had a strange aversion to social arrogance. Meanwhile, Balumama's worldly life came to an end. From then on, Balumama started going to pilgrimage places far away from the villages of Panchkrushi.

Many leelas were happening due to the easy speech and behavior of Balumama. Many lives were blessed because of the many miracles that happened without their knowledge. Many lost their lives. Solved many physical problems. However, Balumama used to say, "Everything that is happening is legal, we are just an excuse." He did not take credit for any success.

Clean dhoti, full sleeved shirt, handkerchief on the head, leather slippers on the feet, Dhangari stick in the hands, slender Unchapuri Dehayashti, Balumama with dark complexion spoke Kannada and Marathi fluently, while Khedwal spoke to the congregations in Khedwal language. Balumama, who has a special identity of tidy living, funny talking, love of bhajan-kirtan, everyone feels like her. He was well versed in speech and yoga. The Balumams never revealed their divinity. It was difficult to guess the Siddha Satpurusha from their external behavior. His teaching was that man should behave like a man. The chanting of 'Akhand Namasmaran' and 'Ramakrishnahari' was a simple motto inculcated in every devout mind.
