Short Moral Story On Self Esteem in English and Marathi

 There were very poor saints living in a village, their condition was very poor. At times, he and his wife would go hungry. All the people in the village respected the saints, but the saints were very self-respecting and did not expect money from anyone.

One day when the king of the kingdom heard this, he thought that we should help the saint. The king ordered his minister to send some money and grain to the saint's house immediately. At the king's command, the minister sent money and grain to the saint's house. Seeing so much grain and money, the saint's wife thought that now her bad times would be over, everything would be fine. After some time, when the saints came home, they found out that the king had given them this gift.

The saint took all the donations given by the king and reached the royal palace. The saint told the minister in the court that he did not know the king and the king did not know me personally. The king has only given me this grace by listening to the people. I can't accept this donation. Happiness that comes from self-earned earnings is not found in donated money. So return the money to the king.

The teaching of the story

The person should be self-respecting. You can never be happy with a gift from someone else. Hard work is the real joy. Self-deprecating wealth is superior.

एका गावात खूप गरीब संत राहात होते, त्यांची परिस्थिती अत्यंत हालाखीची होती. कधी कधी त्यांना आणि त्यांच्या पत्नीला उपाशी राहून दिवस काढावे लागत असे. गावातील सर्व लोक संतांचा सन्मान करत होते, पण संत खूप स्वाभिमानी होते ते कोणाकडूनच धनाची अपेक्षा करत नसत. 

एक दिवस राज्याच्या राजाला ही गोष्ट कळली तेव्हा त्याला वाटले की आपण संताची मदत करायला हवी. राजा आपल्या मंत्र्याला आदेश दिला की संताच्या घरी थोडेसे धन आणि धान्य लगेच पाठवा. राजाची आज्ञा ऐकून मंत्र्यानी संतांच्या घरी धन आणि धान्य पाठवले. एवढे धान्य आणि पैसे पाहून संताच्या पत्नीला वाटले की आता आपला वाईट काळ दूर होईल, सर्व काही चांगले होईल. काही वेळाने संत घरी आले तेव्हा त्यांना कळले की राजाला आपल्याला हे दान दिले आहे.  

संत राजाने दिलेले सर्व दान घेऊन राजदरबारात पोहचले. संत दरबारातील मंत्र्याना म्हणाले मी राजाला ओळखत नाही आणि राजाही मला वैयक्तिकरित्या ओळखत नाही. राजाने फक्त लोकांचे ऐकून मझ्यावर ही कृपा केली आहे. मी हे दान स्विकारू शकत नाही. जो आनंद स्वतः कमावलेल्या कमाईचा मिळतो, तो दान दिलेल्या पैशात मिळत नसतो. म्हणून राजाला हे धन परत करा.

Moral of the story

व्यक्ती हा स्वाभिमानी असला पाहीजे. दूसऱ्याने दिलेले दानाने आपण कधीही आनंदी राहू शकत नाही. मेहनतीने केलेली कमाई हाच खरा आनंद आहे. स्वतःकमवलेले धन श्रेष्ठ असते.
